A Featured Kitchen and Bar Remodel in Silverthorne, Colorado
Some projects push every part of our craft, and this Silverthorne kitchen and bar remodel was one of them. Working hand in hand with the design team at Kitchenscapes, we reworked the heart of this mountain home into a space that is equal parts showpiece and everyday gathering spot. The result was striking enough to be featured in Mountain Living Magazine, and it remains one of the projects we're proudest of as a kitchen remodeler in Silverthorne, CO.

A Fully Custom Design, Start to Finish
This was a full custom design from the ground up, developed in close partnership with Kitchenscapes, our local cabinet partner. Rather than reaching for standard layouts or stock solutions, every element was drawn specifically for this home and this family. That collaboration between our build team and their design team is what let the more ambitious ideas actually come together in the real space, on budget and on spec.

Bookmatched Waterfall Countertops as the Centerpiece
If there's one detail that stops people in their tracks, it's the countertops. We used a unique quartz with dramatic veining, that we were able to source from our partners at Touchstone Granite and Marble, and ran it as a bookmatched, waterfall-edge surface, so the pattern mirrors across the seam and then pours straight down the side of the island to the floor. Bookmatching takes careful planning and precise fabrication, because the two slabs have to line up perfectly for the effect to read the way it should. Done right, as it is here, it turns a countertop into the sculptural anchor of the whole room.
A Custom Exhaust Hood Built as a Statement Piece
Centered over the island is a custom exhaust hood we designed to work as a true statement piece. In most kitchens the hood is something you try to hide. Here we did the opposite, making it a deliberate focal point that draws the eye to the center of the room and grounds the tall, open ceiling above. It's fully functional, but it earns its place as much for how it looks as for what it does.
A Bar Area Scribed Into Natural Stone
The bar area is where the craftsmanship gets really detailed. The home features rugged natural stone surrounds around both the bar and the fireplace, and rather than build up to them or box them out, we scribed the custom cabinetry directly into the rock. Scribing means cutting each cabinet and shelf to follow the exact, irregular contour of the stone, so the millwork meets the rock cleanly with no awkward gaps. It is slow, painstaking work, and it's what makes the finished bar look like it was always meant to be there.
To complete the space, we partnered with a local carpenter to hand build a walnut table and matching walnut floating shelves for the bar. Bringing in a local maker for the woodwork kept the piece one-of-a-kind and tied the whole area back to the warmth of the surrounding materials. Supporting other craftspeople in our community is something we value, and it shows in the final product.
Before and After
It's worth remembering where this space started. The original kitchen was closed off and outdated, with dark cabinetry and heavy finishes that fought against the home's soaring ceilings and mountain light. Opening it up and rebuilding it around clean lines, custom stonework, and statement materials completely changed how the space feels and functions.
