Re-imagining the Kitchen as the Heart of the Home
Every great mountain home has a gathering place, and for this family it was always going to be the kitchen. The challenge was that the existing layout felt closed off and compartmentalized. The home had beautiful bones, but walls that worked against the way the family actually lived.
Our first move was to remove a wall and open the floor plan, letting the kitchen breathe and connect naturally to the surrounding living space. From there, the design came to life. We installed custom cabinets built to the homeowners' specifications and anchored the room with not one but two islands, giving the family room to cook, gather, and entertain all at once. One of those islands is finished with a custom glass countertop, a striking, light-catching detail that became a true centerpiece.
Texture and material were everything in this kitchen. A geometric natural stone backsplash from Ann Sacks runs from countertop to ceiling, drawing the eye upward and adding depth to the room. Every solid surface is finished in Cambria quartz, chosen for both its beauty and its durability. Underfoot, polished and stained concrete floors flow through the kitchen, mudroom, and mezzanine, tying the spaces together with a clean, modern continuity.
To bring the mountains in, we installed new Marvin windows that frame the surrounding landscape and flood the kitchen with natural light. The showstopper, though, is a twelve-foot-wide trifold sliding glass door with an integrated Centor retractable privacy and bug screen. When it's open, the boundary between indoors and out simply disappears, extending the living space onto the deck and turning the whole home into a place built for Colorado summers.

We reworked both the closet and bathroom layouts to make better use of the footprint, then built a custom wet room that brings a spa-like sensibility into the home. At its center sits a two-person soaker tub, an MTI engineered quartz stone bathtub chosen for its sculptural presence and lasting quality. The result is a space that invites you to slow down after a long day on the mountain.
A Lower-Level Guest Bath With Personality
The lower-level guest bathroom was designed to surprise and delight visitors. We used denim-printed tiles with a unique texture, an unexpected, tactile choice that gives the room real personality without feeling overdone. The showering area is finished with floor-to-ceiling tile and enclosed with custom shower glass cut specifically for the space. A semi-dropped-in MTI round sink and coordinating faucet complete the look, balancing artful design with everyday practicality.
