Small Room, Serious Craft: A Reclaimed Wood Powder Bath in Frisco

We clad an entire powder bath in reclaimed wood shiplap and finished it with custom trim throughout, turning a small, utilitarian space into one of the most memorable rooms in the home.

Reclaimed Wood Shiplap, Wall to Wall

The star of this space is the reclaimed wood shiplap that runs across every wall. We sourced our materials from our local partner, Cross-cut Reclaimed, and each board carries its own grain, tone, and history, so the finished paneling reads as rich and layered rather than flat or uniform. Installing reclaimed material well is its own skill. The boards vary in width and thickness, and getting them to sit tight and true takes patience and a careful eye. Run vertically here, the planks draw the eye up and make the compact room feel taller than it is.

Custom Trim That Ties It All Together

Paneling is only as good as the details around it, which is where the custom trim comes in. We built and fit trim throughout the room, including the casing that frames the small window and the transitions where the wood paneling meets the ceiling, floor, and doorway. Those junctions are where carpentry either looks effortless or looks off, and getting them clean is what makes the whole room feel considered.

The trim was cut and fit specifically for this space rather than pulled from a stock profile, so every corner and return lines up the way it should. Paired with the copper vessel sink, soapstone-toned countertop, and warm lighting, the woodwork gives the room a cohesive, handcrafted feel from floor to ceiling.
